Tracking ETF's

ETF's or the Exchange Trade Funds are buzzing with activity.  One of the reason for their increasing popularity is that they have the advantage of both the Mutual Fund and can be traded like stocks!  They can also be called as Index Fund as they track the performance of a specific bond market or Index.  The first ETF to hit the market was SPDR's or spiders and they reflect the performance of S&P 500.  Later came the cubes, or QQQQ.  All in all there are about 150 ETF's  which range from ETF's reflecting bond market or even track the price of gold.  One other advantage of ETF is that expense ratio for most ETF are lower.

ETF can be used for both long term and short term investing. Their feature of high flexibility and low expense ratio make them a good replacement for Mutual Bond.  But the disadvantage is that they reflect the performance of Index.  Including them in one's portfolio  helps in covering the market and at the same time in diversifying one's investment and at a low expense.

Another important aspect of trading via ETF is that you can take advantage of a particular market niche the minute you are aware of the same.  The advantage of ETF is that you can trade as per the market tandem or you can buy and hold if you are interested in long term investment!

Now let us analyse the present trend of some of the active ETF's which are SPY and QQQQ

SPY technical shows an 18.73% gain.  Please note that SPY reflects the S&P Index.

Spy

In case of the Cubes or QQQQ, the gains seems to be 28.84%.  The cubes reflect the NASDAQ index.

Guess ETF satifies all the types of investors from the safe to the adventrous for the simple reason they combine the features of both the mutual fund and shares.  But also the disadvantage lies in the same reason that since they would be reflecting a particular index.

Where Technical’s and Fundas matter!

I am starting with the assumption that you have read my 30 second investment decision posted last week.  It is time to see how ‘Market Simplified’ will create a niche for itself in the abundance of financial sites available out there.  Now before I proceed any further, this article is not about comparisons at all (for one we are pioneers in the field of ‘Financial Search Tool, so I don’t see any peers !).

Let us take the active players of NASDAQ, nothing much seems to have changed since last week.  The order seems to be Sun Microsystems, MSFT, and Power share QQQ Trust series.

Guess we need to take the most talked about stock that is making headlines, MSFT (Microsoft).  Let us take the fundamentals into account; Market Simplified gives you up-to-date news regarding MSFT.  The news relating to the particular quote, provided along with the technical’s, helps in analyzing the reason for the trend!

Msftmsf Msftmsffund_2

I have been shuffling through the sites which deal with ‘Technical’ alone and haven’t come across a site which provides a six month analyses through its chart, I am sure it is a boon to many especially in terms of half yearly performance of the company/quote!

In case of Other Sites, I guess you would know!

Also you don’t have search helter skelter for information,

Fundamental page is sure to give you the entire details.

In case of other sites, you need to search for information....

30 second Investment decision

How do you make intelligent investment decision within 30 second?  If you are thinking…sorry “thinking is such a waste of time” instead hit your keys and log on to www.marketsimplified.com to give you answers within 30 second.  Here is how I did it and found what I want and more…so go on and get used to the speed life with market simplified.

Here are the list of top players in NASDAQ and how I found the information, and decided on my Investments.  Most of my decisions were based both on the technical and the fundamentals.

The lsit starts with Power shares Exchange Traded Fund Trust (QQQQ).   Well why it is the top runner, simply because it is the Exchange Traded Fund, and the world is getting diverted to the same.  The advantages of owning a Exchange Traded Fund Trust are many like unlike Mutual Fund, the ETF discloses the holding and net asset value ever 15 seconds and not few times in a year.  It is more tax efficient, it has lower expense ratio. owning an ETF provides with a unique combination of trading flexibility with an investment professional stock picking expertise.  Of course it also has its own set of drawbacks.  But no one is complaining with its present gain, at 30.06% as this chart from www.marketsimplified.com reflects.Qqqq_2

Second in line is Dobson Comm A (DCEL) well in this gain seeing is believing, for the technical show a strong buy with the gain reflecting as 74.4%.  The fundamentals are also very encouraging with AT&T all set to acquire Dobson.  Stockholders would be receiving $13.00 per share for a total equity price of $2.8billion.  with all the expenditure and pending loans paid the total transaction value is at $5.1 billion, is there any other reason required to buy these!  Well if you have any doubts the technicals will put you to rest.

Intel Corporation (INTC): The abstract query on Market simplified, throws the following answer when I had enquired to find if it is good time to buy INTC; “INTC is a weak buy according to technical’s, buy according to fundamentals and goes on to suggest ALTI” now  this provides the much needed information, suggesting an alternate to the quote…what else does an investor ask for!

The decision again is yours, the INTC has made a gain of about 34.96% and I feel it is rightly categorized as the best buy.

Intc_2

Microsoft (MSFT): Well I would buy these for the “brand” and the management, and their simple ability to churn out great products and versions which seems to be a blend of user friendly yet sophisticated and dependable.

This is a part of the screenshot of the ‘fundamental’ section for MSFT on Marketsimplified…..this is called information breakthrough!

This more or less sums up about my “30 sec. investment decision” and I guess you would agree that the use of www.marketsimplified.com would only make sense in today’s world.

Guru Gopi Mantra on Apple

I am writing this note even as the NASDAQ and Dow are close to breaking its high. While the SENSEX in India yet again breaches it all time high.

The data US manufacturing data has been better then expected , so may be the Dow will be able to hold on after all .  What does this do to the dollar is a different story , May be the US green back will rally too against most currencies across the globe .

The big news of the week gone by was of course the APPLE i-phone , Such a long long wait for this product . Well the stock had in anticipation of this launch moved ahead and APPLE inc has been one of the better performing stocks on the US bourses .

Well what is the future of APPLE from Now

The reports on I Phone have been mixed , however one has to admit that APPLE could sell as much a million I phones over the next 6 months .

The stock for starters is richly valued at $ 121 and the P/e hitting 41 .

While the long term future of the stock looks great , I suspect APPLE in the short run has had it  run , I would expect the stock to correct back to $ 105 - $ 110 before it can move again.

Technically the charts indicate a over bought and a correction seems round the corner

http://www.marketsimplified.com/technical/index/AAPL/2/365?category=1y.

Looks like its time to short APPLE and cut positions if the stocks moves past 130 or buy back at 110.

Happy investing
